MARY E. QUATTLEBAUM

M.A., National Certifed Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, Supervised by Don Zablosky

We cannot teach people anything; we can only help them discover it within themselves. -Galileo

I provide expert care and affordable counseling services in the North Richland Hills area by treating each client as a unique individual and by being responsive and attentive to their needs. My goal as a therapist is to help you to address challenges in a positive way by assisting you to clarify the issues, consider options, and increase self-awareness. In counseling we will explore root causes, talk about hard things, and work together to find solutions.

I’m a real person focused on creating relaxed and genuine connections with my clients (with no stuffy therapy jargon). I provide in-person counseling and telehealth sessions at times that are convenient for my clients, with evening and weekend availability. Whether this is your first time seeking counsleing, or your tenth, I am honored to walk this journey with you.

My background in child and human development, along with years spent assessing the unique experiences and traumas of individuals, will allow me to meet you where you're at. My experience with faith-based counseling practices allow me to treat all aspects of a person's mental, physical, and emotional/spiritual health.
Specialties

Children & Adolescents

Kids can experience the same mental and emotional problems that adults do, including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and grief. These troubles create challenges not only for the child, but can disrupt the entire family dynamic. Whether these concerns come on gradually, or are the result of a larger issue, such as divorce, blended family dynamics, or abuse, there are interventions that can help. Often these issues require attention and are not simply outgrown. Children shouldn't be subjected to a wait-and-see mentality. I have over fifteen years experience working with kids ages 3 and their families to provide parenting education and child-friendly play practices.

Anxiety & Depression

You’ve taken the “right” steps to work towards your goals, yet it feels like you never get ahead. You’re a go-getter, a rule follower, a should-be success story, but you feel stuck. Behind closed doors, you’re coming apart at the seams and you just want a break! You think you should feel happy, yet some days it’s hard to find the motivation to even get out of bed. Every day is draining, and you wonder, “What’s wrong with me?” You’re ready for peace in your life (and probably ready for a good night's sleep). I’m here to tell you that it’s okay to need help and that you can have a life that makes you excited! I use a Cognitive Behavioral approach to help reshape thoughts with the goal of easing symptoms.

Relational Issues &

Couples Counseling

Let's face it, relationships can be tough! Because we each bring unique experiences, backgrounds, and cultures to the table, love is not always enough to sustain a healthy partnership. In couple's counseling we can work to create a secure emotional bond between partners through learning to be more open, attuned, and responsive to each other. Whatever the stage of your relationship, in therapy couples can learn to be emotionally available, empathetic, and engaged with one another.

Blended Families

& Coparenting

Whether it's role confusion, difficulty transitioning, legal disputes, or feeble family bonds, blended families present unique challenges for parents and children. I work with teens and adolescents who are experiencing the effects of divorce and/or remarriage and with parents and coparents who are struggling to navigate these family dynamics. As a mother, stepmother, and co-parent, I understand how tough it can be to solidify a blended family unit with so many variables.
