Kids can experience the same mental and emotional problems that adults do, including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and grief. These troubles create challenges not only for the child, but can disrupt the entire family dynamic. Whether these concerns come on gradually, or are the result of a larger issue, such as divorce, blended family dynamics, or abuse, there are interventions that can help. Often these issues require attention and are not simply outgrown. Children shouldn't be subjected to a wait-and-see mentality. I have over fifteen years experience working with kids ages 3 and their families to provide parenting education and child-friendly play practices.
You’ve taken the “right” steps to work towards your goals, yet it feels like you never get ahead. You’re a go-getter, a rule follower, a should-be success story, but you feel stuck. Behind closed doors, you’re coming apart at the seams and you just want a break! You think you should feel happy, yet some days it’s hard to find the motivation to even get out of bed. Every day is draining, and you wonder, “What’s wrong with me?” You’re ready for peace in your life (and probably ready for a good night's sleep). I’m here to tell you that it’s okay to need help and that you can have a life that makes you excited! I use a Cognitive Behavioral approach to help reshape thoughts with the goal of easing symptoms.
